Welcome to the Department of Pediatrics
Welcome to the Department of Pediatrics at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario and at Kingston General Hospital and Hotel Dieu Hospital. We are proud of our clinical service and research and to train the next generation of clinicians, teachers and scholars.
We take a patient and family-centred approach to providing pediatric inpatient and ambulatory care to children from birth to age 18 through the efforts of interdisciplinary healthcare teams. Our specialized Genetics Division provides consultative care for families, children and adults on a broad range of inherited and metabolic conditions.
Our clinical services are provided primarily at the Kingston Health Sciences Centre. The Pediatric Inpatient Unit, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Outpatient Cancer Care, and some Genetics Clinics are located at the Kingston General Hospital site. Most other Ambulatory Care, including the Children's Outpatient Centre, Kids Inclusive Centre for Child and Youth Development, and Pediatric Day Surgery are located at the Hotel Dieu Hospital site.
The department is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education. We currently haveĀ 18 residents in our postgraduate program, which prepares trainees to be general pediatric consultants and also provides a core program for those planning careers in subspecialty pediatrics.
We thank you for your interest in our Department and its programs. We would be pleased to provide additional information upon request.
