Dr. Karthik Kalaniti is a full-time Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and a Neonatologist with over 15 years of advanced NICU clinical experience.
He received his initial medical training in India, where he completed his Medical Degree and Pediatric Residency. He then completed Fellowships in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine at McMaster University and Neonatal Transport at the Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto.
His passion for teaching led him to pursue a Master of Science (MSc) in Health Sciences Education from McMaster University, followed by a Fellowship in Medical Simulation at the SickKids Learning Institute, University of Toronto. Before moving to Kingston, he worked as a Neonatal Clinical Associate with the Saskatchewan Health Authority, Saskatoon.
His professional interests include simulation-based medical education, the use of advanced technologies such as POCUS, CFM, and NIRS monitoring in clinical decision-making, resuscitation course teaching (including tele-resuscitation), antibiotic stewardship and optimizing nutrition in the NICU. Outside of his work, he enjoys watching documentaries, traveling and exploring new places, and spending time with his family
