Dr. Andrea Guerin, is a Medical Geneticist, medical education expert, and health systems leader whose work bridges clinical care, education, and health policy. She completed her BSc (Hons) at the University of Toronto (2004) and MD at the University of Western Ontario (2008), followed by Royal College certification in Medical Genetics & Genomics (2014) and an MEd from Queen’s University (2022). Her formal training also includes certificates in medical education (Harvard University), Indigenous health (University of Alberta), AI in healthcare (Queen’s University).
Dr. Guerin was the Head of the Division of Medical Genetics at Queen’s University (2021–2025). She is the Quality Lead for Ontario Health’s Provincial Genetics Program, and Assistant Dean of Curriculum in the MD program at Queen’s. She has held multiple leadership roles in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education. She serves on national and provincial genetics policy and education committees.
A committed clinician-educator, Dr. Guerin is primary investigator on numerous medical education and health services research grants, including projects focused on curriculum development, clerkship redesign, and models of genetic service delivery. She has collaborated on several CIHR-funded national initiatives involving genomic testing, diagnostic equity, and clinical utility. A list of her peer reviewed publications can be found here.
